Game Awards 2022: Jedi Survivor Collectors beware!

The 2022 Game Awards was much improved over the last 2 years, mostly due to the hype around the new games coming out soon.  There was quite a lot of hype around it, as many people were debating whether God of War: Ragnarok would be able to compete with the success of Elden Ring earlier in the year.  As a Gamestop employee, I saw first-hand how popular Elden Ring was right out the gate, so I knew from late last year that it would reign king at the game awards.

Even so, there was plenty to be excited about! The most hype was around the sequel to EA's Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.  This sequel, Jedi Survivor, continues to focus on the story of Cal and BD-1 in a post clone wars era.  Trailer below!

The game announcement also came with a surprise!  Jedi Survivor will offer a collectors edition, only available on Limited Run Games' website, and comes with everything you see here:

The Lightsaber is like a Force-FX lightsaber, meaning that you can buy a blade for it (sold separately) from Disney or other retailers and have it function like a Force-FX lightsaber!  It also includes a gorgeous steel book (for my collection), and some in-game content from the deluxe edition, plus a nifty box that it all comes in.

Unfortunately, this is the only retailer that will have the collectors edition.  Normally that's not much of a problem, but Limited Run Games has a rough track record in terms of delivering on time.  People have reported delays in receiving their products, sometimes up to a few months late.  The company has several complaints listed in the Better Business Bureau, mostly related to a lack of response when customers try to inquire about their packages.  It's understandable that High-demand items may take a little longer to ship, but to anyone hoping to play the game at launch, the collectors edition may not be the best option.

The collectors edition is a whopping $299.99 before tax and shipping, and as of this article's posting it's still available to order, but I highly recommend doing some independent research on the company to see if you're willing to take the risk.  They do offer a protection plan on the package for about $10, but given the company's shaky track record, I'm on the fence about ordering it. If money lands in my lap I may take a chance at it, but until then it remains a pipe dream.

What do you think?

Reformatting and moving forward

Greetings reader,

It's been some time since my last post here, and my interests change like the wind.  Lately, I find myself at a turning point in my career and amidst searching for things to bolster my resume, I stumbled back upon this blog I'd made.  While my interests have strayed away from E-Sports, my passion for gaming remains deeply rooted.  Over the past few years, my collection has grown, as well as my interest in the "fancier" side of gaming.  Specifically, I'm drawn to collectors editions like a moth to a flame.  Any time I get word of a new collectors edition game on the horizon, I immediately scour the internet for any piece of information I can get my hands on about where to preorder, what it comes with and what countries it's available in.  And since I'm already doing this, I figured why not share this information with the rest of the community?

I'll be rebranding this blog to be more focused on the high-end gaming collectibles and other aspects of the gaming industry that pique my fancy.  This is mostly for me to have a record of all the collectors editions coming out, and a way to keep tabs on everything as it comes up.  I currently work at GameStop, which gives me a slight edge in terms of preordering things early, but I won't be able to provide any information before it's publicly available (GameStop keeps it's customer-facing employees in the dark until information becomes public anyways).  Despite this, I'll be doing my best to keep this as updated as I can with the new happenings in the industry, and my articles will be as factual as I can make them while keeping my opinion available.  I'm not trying to impress anyone, I just need a place to gush about these collections with people who want to talk about it!

Will try to make at least one post a week, but the nature of the gaming industry makes such regular posting unlikely so there's a good chance this will only be updated when a new collectors edition is announced or when new information is made readily available.

Until then, I'll be working on sprucing up the page to better show off what I'm trying to accomplish.

Cheers!
